Pre Inquest Hearing
The pre-inquest review hearing scheduled for Monday 11 February 2019 has been adjourned.
The Inquests will begin as planned on Monday 25 February 2019.

Background to the Judicial Review and Court of Appeal judgement is as follows;
Application for Judicial Review
On 7 September 2017 a claim for judicial review was made to the Administrative Court. The claim form, lodged on behalf of the families represented by KRW Law, sought a judicial review of the decision on the scope of the Inquests made by the Coroner on 3 July 2017. A Judicial Review hearing was set for 6 and 7 December 2017.
A Judicial Review hearing was heard by Lord Justice Simon and Mrs Justice Carr on the 6 and 7 December 2017 sitting at the Family and Civil Justice Centre in Birmingham.
The Judicial Review hearing considered matters arising from the Coroner’s ruling, dated 3 July 2017, on the scope of the Inquests and was heard by Lord Justice Simon and Mrs Justice Carr.
On 26 January 2018 the Judicial Review was handed down. A copy of that judgement can be found here.
Following this judgement the Coroner made a statement outlining his intention to seek permission to appeal the judgment to the Court of Appeal. A copy of the press release issued outlining this decision, issued on 31 January 2018, can be found here.
On 26 September 2018 the Court of Appeal ruled in favour of the scope set out by the Coroner. A copy of that judgement can be found here. The pre inquest hearings have subsequently resumed with one having taken place on 31 October 2018 and a further hearings on 18 December 2018 and 17 January 2019.
